From the time Lily May began to fiddle and pick the banjo with local friends and relatives, Red River folks knew she was destined to become a star. It didn't take more than her debut on Chicago's WLS Barn Dance to make her an instant favorite of country music radio audience. She went on to lead the famous Coon Creek Girls all female string band, for years mainstay of the Renfro Valley Barn Dance. Later in life, Lily May enjoyed a solo career that took her across the USA performing the mountain music she was born to play.
